Epiphyte- a class of plants that grow in the air or with roots exposed
to the air in their native environment.
Keiki- a young plantlet growing from a mature plant.
Micro-climate- an artificial climate created to mimic a natural
habitat.
Monopodial- upright growth habit with one growth point.
Node- the place where buds and side shoots emerge from the stem,
often looks swollen.
Propagation- methods of plant reproduction (ie: seeds, division,
keikis, cloning).
Pseudobulb- a swollen growth found at the base of the plant,
usually a water storage organ (not a true bulb).
Rhizome- a creeping stem, lying on or under the growing medium,
from which shoots will arise and roots will grow.
Sympodial- creeping stems or rhizomes with multiple growth points.
Terrestrial- a class of plants growing in the ground in their
native environment.
Trace Elements - nutrients that are essential in plant growth in
very small quantities (ie: boron, copper, iron, zinc, etc.)
