To “open” a woody plant, prune part of the central growth and cut off the ends of the buds that point outwards. If the cut is too close to the yolk, the yolk usually dies. Pruning is the measured removal of parts (such as branches, stems, and flowers) of plants. However, it's not just made for shape and style.
Pruning helps control the growth and structure of shrubs and trees, removes dead or diseased stems and branches, and encourages the development of new flowers, fruits and foliage. Especially when it comes to woody plants like trees and shrubs, pruning is a great way to keep them growing in a healthy way. For all shrubs that have individual stems pruned, the cut is the same. Most indoor plants can be pruned and cut, however, there are certain types that need to be careful with, including most palm trees and tree ferns.
Like trees that live outdoors, indoor trees should be pruned occasionally to help maintain their shape and growth.
